BOOKIES HALT FAIR PLAY

One would have thought that after the Hansie Cronje and Mohd.Azharudin episode betting was a distant affair in world cricket .Hundreds of games have been played amidst different cricketing nations after that but who knows how many of them were fair and square .The allegations against Pakistan team for spot fixing has left the entire cricketing universe stunned .Bookie claims to have control over seven Pakistani cricketers , three of who are confirmed.
The trio of Mohammad Asif , Mohammad Amir and test captain Salman Butt have been in the limelight for spot fixing .Although PCB is still standing by its players but ICC is no mood of letting three players go away easily .Former Pakistani captain Imran Khan held PCB responsible for the act ,he said ‘When few players were suspected for fixing in 1993 PCB should have dealt severely with them. This not only would have tighten the screws but also set example for youngsters willing to serve the nation says the world cup winning captain’.
Ongoing tour of England was in a dilemma as the English men were unwilling to play against an unfair side ,though the tour resumed. A sting operation of Yasir Hameed has revealed shocking truth about Pakistan cricket .The aggressive opener claims that majority of Pakistan Matches are fixed and he despite grief has to play such games by going against his nation. Not only Pakistan ,Indian cricketers are also alleged for match fixing for the Galle one day match played in the month of Dec,2009. Harbhajan Singh lashed out hard and said ‘Fingers are raised when the team fails to do well ,well chop them of by a good show’.
Apart from the Indian cricket team the famous bookie also revealed that amongst the involved cricketers , one is Sri lankan. Aussie paceman Brett Lee said that even he was approached by Mumbai based bookie for spot fixing while the team toured India last year. Much to the grief is the fact that gentlemen’s game is no more the way it was played in the early stage of 19th century. Claws of fixing have resided deep into flesh of cricket.
